FAQ

What is CrossFit?

CrossFit is defined as: Constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity. All CrossFit workouts are based on functional movements, and these movements reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and a lot more.

We simply call it FUN!

Is CrossFit for me?

If you would like to be part of community that encourages you to be fitter, stronger, more athletic and more mobile, then CrossFit is for you.  Members of CrossFit Coweta vary widely in terms of age, degree of athleticism, and appearance.  Only our desire for personal improvement is consistent.

Will I get too big and bulky doing CrossFit?

How bulky you get doing Crossfit depends mostly on your testosterone level, your genetics, and your body fat percentage.

Crossfitters in general tend look more toned and muscular rather than bulky.

What's with all the lingo?

There's a lot of Crossfit "lingo" but the coaches are willing to answer questions and will always make sure that you understand the entire workout before it begins.  So don't let all the lingo scare you away.

Do I have to be in shape to start CrossFit?

No!  Come to the first class and try it out. Your workout will be scaled to your individual ability level with a goal of increasing your fitness level.

Will I get hurt doing Crossfit?

The coaches watch all athletes carefully, even those who have many years of experience, and correct mistakes or recommend a lighter weight in order to reduce the occurence of injuries.

How often should I CrossFit?

The answer depends on your current fitness level, your goals, and of course, your schedule.

We recommend you start with the crossfit.com standard of 3 workout days in a row followed by 1 day off and adjust from there.  Some people prefer to workout all 5 weekdays and then take the weekend off.

What should I eat during CrossFit?

We recommend that you transition to eating quality foods that our human bodies are made to eat. This is difficult for most people because processed carbohydrates are not included. Your best bet is to shop the perimeter of the grocery store for lean meats, vegetables, some fruit,  nuts, and seeds.

Will I be able to qualify for the CrossFit games?

Less than 1% of those who attempt to qualify for the Games will be successful.

Are part of the 1% or the 99%?

But don't let that stop you.  Come in and give Crossfit a try.

Will CrossFit make me weak if I'm already strong?

None of our athletes have experienced a loss in strength regardless of their starting point.  CrossFit Coweta incorporates daily strength training to ensure we are building the most well rounded individuals possible.
